Summary:
Refractive surgery to correct vision is one of the most common elective surgery procedures globally. Estimation says that in 2020 around 3.6 million procedures were made. Despite the evolution of techniques through the years, dry eye disease is still one of the most common postoperative side effects. In this article two mostly used laser refractive surgery methods: SMILE and LASIK were discussed. Etiological factors and postoperative clinical symptoms of dry eye disease between both methods were compared.
