Summary:
The main goal in glaucoma treatment is maintaining good visual function as well as good quality of life of a patient through individually selected well
tolerated treatment. Glaucoma leads to irreversible optic nerve damage and, eventually, to blindness and also greatly reduces the patient’s quality of life. Not only the disease itself but the type of treatment influences quality of life as well as simple everyday lifestyle choices. This paper’s purpose is to show the impact of treatment type on glaucoma progression and quality of life with a specific focus on topical medicines containing preservatives.
