Summary:
Nonsteroidal anti‑inflammatory drugs are commonly used in the ocular surgery. Here we demonstrated literature review of the efficacy and safety of topical bromfenac use. It has been shown that its characteristic feature is good tissue permeability including to the vitreous cavity. For that reason bromfenac is commonly used as perioperative treatment during procedures of the anterior and posterior segment of the eye. Its advantage is its long‑acting activity selectively inhibiting the cyclooxygenase‑2 enzyme, which allows it to be applied 2 times a day. In addition, good drug tolerance with rarely observed side effects facilitates the bromfenac use with good patient compliance.
