Dry eye syndrome affects more and more patients every year and is one of the leading causes of visits to ophthalmologists. The new definition of dry eye syndrome was created during Dry Eye Workshop II. A solution including hydroxypropyl guar and hyaluronic acid provides greater protection against desiccation and surface retention than hydroxypropyl guar or hyaluronic acid alone. The paper discusses the importance of moisturizing the eye surface in cataract patients. The literature on the influence of Systane ® family moisturizing drops on the surface of the eye was analyzed. Comparison of total ocular surface staining score (TOSS) after curation of Systane Ultra ® to competitive products. The effect of drops on the lipid layer, which was thicker in the Systane Balance® group compared to the Soothe XP ® group. Intense pulsed light combined with Meibomian gland expression might be efficient supportive therapy for dry eye syndrome. Expectations of all tapes dry eye syndrome patients can be meet by a wide range of Systane ® lubricant eye drops.
