Summary: 

The simplest, widely available, and most often sufficient tools are: interview (patient history), the examination of the anterior segment of the eye in a slit lamp, ophthalmoscopy, ultrasound examination of the anterior and/ or posterior segment of the eye, and optical coherence tomography of the retina and choroid, and the anterior segment of the eye. We present cases of intraocular lesions causing diagnostic difficulties, with particular emphasis on and a detailed description of the characteristics that facilitate the differential diagnosis.
