Summary:

Due to the growing popularity of refractive surgery and the aging of the population of patients undergoing the first laser vision correction treatments, it is necessary to constantly improve the protocols of qualification for the procedure along with peri-and postoperative monitoring. Individuals with high myopia – the group of patients undergoing refractive surgery most often – should be given special care by the attending ophthalmologist because of possible
accompanying diseases such as glaucoma. Although this disease is a relative contraindication to refractive surgery, thanks to the development of diagnostic techniques, monitoring and therapy, early diagnosis and effective treatment of patients suffering from glaucoma are possible. The article discusses the current considerations concerning qualification for the refractive surgery and peri-, postoperative, and long-term monitoring of patients with suspected glaucoma
as well as already diagnosed one.
