Summary:
For centuries, the only way to treat, usually very advanced, Intraocular tumors has been to remove the eyeball. The development of ophthalmic oncology in the world falls on the 60 s of last century. At that time in Ophthalmology Clinic in Krakow starerd activities to improve the diagnosis and treatment of ocular neoplasms: new methods of conjunctival and lid tumors treatment and reconstructive surgery were introduced. On 1962. a Meyer-Schwickerath xenon lamp, and in 1968. Cobalt plaques were purchased, which were used mainly for the treatment of intraocular tumors in children (retinoblastoma) and in adults (melanoma).
