Summary: 

Purpose: To evaluate the value of optical coherence tomography as a diagnostic tool in retinopathy of prematurity.
Material and methods: a short summary of the pesntknowlage about optical coherence tomography usefulness in diagnostics of retinopathy of prematurity.
Conclusions: Comprehensive ophthalmological examination and treatment followed by the use of diagnostic tools such as optical coherence tomography in children with reinopathy of prematurity will allow deciding on the proper timing and method of treatment. Subsequently, this will contribute to achieving the best possible visual acuity and thus a higher quality of life in these children.
